I graduated from college in May and started working full-time from home. This grants me an opportunity that not many people get - the ability to work in the comfort of my own home.
Since then, I have developed a “how-to” guide to be comfortable while working at home, without turning into a total hermit.
Make it Match Monday The first day back to work after the weekend. You spent ALL weekend out of the house running errands that normal people get to do before/after work or on a lunch hour, so you had to get dressed and put on makeup and comb your hair. The last thing you want to do is wake up Monday morning to do it again. This is the premise of “Make it Match Monday.” The only effort you have to make? Making sure your clothes at least attempt to match. (Socks not included)
T-Shirt Tuesday Everyone has that closet full of t-shirts from college, or Heart Walks, or from winning a chicken wing eating contest. Tuesday is your day to make them feel loved.
Work Out Wear Wednesday By the middle of the week, if your house is anything like mine, the laundry is piled to the ceiling, and we are scrambling to keep up with it and the other household chores. Needless to say, take it easy that day and sling on a pair of the Holy Mother of Telecommute Wear - the Yoga Pant.
Throw it On Thursday By Thursday, I’m tired. It’s usually the day of the week that I wake up the latest and with the least energy. This is why I have named Thursday as such, because I usually only have time to take a shower and throw something on.
Fancy Friday This day got it’s name from a conversation I had with my grandma. Due to connectivity issues at my house, I packed up and went to her house to work one day. She asked me, “What are you so dressed up for? Don’t you wear pajamas to work?” to which I replied, “Yeah, usually, but today is Fancy Friday!” and it just stuck. Basically, it’s the day I am most excited for, so I put in a little more effort than usual.
So now that I am done being ridiculous, here is fashion, telecommute style.
